The McGinnis Group was founded by John McGinnis in 1978 and in the intervening 40 years has grown to become one of the most respected home builders in the UK. The family owned firm has constructed and delivered some of the biggest and most prestigious developments throughout Northern Ireland, the North of England and Scotland.

The Group consistently strives to provide accommodation of the highest quality in highly desirable locations. It provides competitive and progressive developments whilst adhering to the traditions of quality craftsmanship, construction and integrity.

In addition to building new homes, the McGinnis Group has successfully delivered a series of major regeneration projects across the province over the past three decades. These projects have included accommodation for government, educational institutions and blue chip retail operators. In recognition for his work in regeneration, Mr McGinnis was awarded an OBE.

McGinnis Group was one of the pioneers of the UK Governments ‘Private Finance Initiative’ and as part of a consortium constructed 300,000 sq ft of educational accommodation on a design, build, own and operate basis.

John received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ulster in 2009 for his contribution to Industry in Northern Ireland. John now sits as a Director on the University of Ulster Foundation board. The Foundation assists in building relationships and raising funds to support a number of strategic University initiatives. The Foundation has both internal and external board members who work together to pursue opportunities, which not only raises funds for the University, but also contributes to positioning Ulster as a leading Centre of Excellence in selected areas of its activity.
